Frequently Asked Questions
How the Trump Signal Index works, what the numbers mean, and how to use this site.
What is the Trump Signal Index?
The Trump Signal Index is a 0–100 score that measures how much Trump's daily actions — tariff announcements, executive orders, military decisions, and statements — are disrupting global financial markets. A higher score means more market-moving activity. It is updated throughout the day as new events are collected and scored.
How is the index calculated?
Every Trump-related event is scored on two axes: impact (1–10, how far it reaches into markets and policy) and sentiment (−10 to +10, its direction). The daily index combines the average signal intensity of the day's events with a volume bonus for high-activity days and a DJT stock factor. The full methodology is described on the About page.
What do the index levels mean?
0–20 is Calm (normal policy noise), 21–40 is Low, 41–60 is Moderate (markets are paying attention), 61–80 is High Impact (multiple market-moving signals active), and 81–100 is Maximum Chaos (crisis-level disruption across several markets at once). In practice, readings above 70 have coincided with events like the Iran war escalation and the Hormuz blockade.
How often is the index updated?
New events are collected and scored continuously, and the index refreshes roughly every 30 minutes. The daily analysis report is published once per day.
What data sources does the index use?
The index tracks official announcements and executive orders, Trump's Truth Social and X posts (see the Truth Feed), wire reporting on policy and military developments, and market data including the S&P 500 and DJT stock. Events are scored individually and aggregated into the daily index.
What are the sector signals?
Each daily analysis report tags the market sectors it affects — Oil / Energy, Defense, Gold, Dollar, and others — with a direction: bullish, bearish, or neutral. The Sector Radar aggregates these signals over the last three months to show which sectors Trump's actions are currently pressuring, and each sector has its own page with a weekly trend chart and every related report.
Is this investment advice?
No. The Trump Signal Index and all analysis on this site are for informational purposes only. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy or sell any security. See the Disclaimer for details.
Who runs Trump Signal Index?
The site is maintained by Workoffy Research, an independent team that builds financial data tools. It is not affiliated with any political campaign, party, or the Trump Organization. For inquiries: team@workoffy.com.
Why does the index sometimes stay high for weeks?
The index measures active disruption, not news volume. Structural situations — an ongoing war, a naval blockade, an unresolved trade conflict — keep generating scored events day after day, so the index stays elevated until the underlying situation changes. A quiet day during a crisis still scores higher than a quiet day in peacetime.
Where should I start?
The home page shows today's index, the latest analysis, and the sector radar at a glance. The Guides section explains the concepts behind the index — tariffs, the Hormuz Strait, sanctions, the VIX — in plain language. The Analysis section holds every daily report, searchable and organized by month.
